IBSUniversity and PNG Science & Technology Council Secretariat Sign MoU to Strengthen Research and National Development

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea | Monday 27th April 2026

IBSUniversity has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Papua New Guinea Science and Technology Council Secretariat (PNGSTCS), achieving a significant milestone in strengthening research collaboration and advancing national development through science, innovation, and evidence‑based policy.

The MoU signing ceremony took place on Monday, 27 April 2026, in the presence of IBSUniversity Founder, Sir Mick Nades, Mr. Kulala Mulung (Acting CEO & Chairman, PNGSTCS), Dr. Durga Prasad Repakula, Director – IBS Centre of Research, and Dr. Glory Sujitha Antony, Acting Vice Chancellor of IBSUniversity, along with senior representatives from both institutions.

This strategic partnership establishes a collaborative framework to:

  • Advance joint research projects and scholarly publications
  • Strengthen policy‑relevant and evidence‑based research
  • Promote research‑driven solutions addressing national priorities
  • Contribute meaningfully to Papua New Guinea’s sustainable development agenda through science, technology, and innovation

A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Sir Mick Nades’s autobiography to the CEO and team of PNGSTCS. The gesture symbolised a shared commitment to visionary leadership, knowledge creation, and nation‑building, supporting the values underpinning this partnership.

Through this collaboration, IBSUniversity and PNGSTCS aim to bridge academia, policy, and innovation by fostering a research culture that supports informed decision‑making and sustainable development in Papua New Guinea.

Dr. Durga, Director of Research and Post Graduate Studies at IBSUniversity said,” IBSUniversity looks forward to working closely with PNGSTCS to turn research into impact—for Papua New Guinea.”

The agreement aligns with IBSUniversity’s broader commitment for academic excellence, national relevance, and global standards, while supporting PNGSTCS’s mandate to champion science and technology as drivers of economic and social progress.
