The School of Accounting and Finance Students’ Association (SAFSA) successfully organized its Donation Drive for 2026 on 25th September at the Ovarian and Cervical Cancer Centre, Women’s Ward, Port Moresby General Hospital, Port Moresby. The initiative formed part of SAFSA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities and was organised to provide essential care items, comfort and encouragement to women undergoing treatment for ovarian and cervical cancer.
The donation drive was made possible through generous in-kind contributions from Alleviate PNG, an NGO based in Port Moresby, Mr. Vinet George Pius, and Niugini Fleet Services (NFS).

Their contributions, valued at K500, K500 and K400 respectively, provided essential sanitary and healthcare items that enabled SAFSA to prepare 55 care packages for distribution to patients. SAFSA extends its sincere appreciation to each contributor for supporting the initiative and helping make the community service activity possible.
Representing the School of Accounting and Finance (SOAF) and the association, 10 students carried out the donation drive, along with the SAFSA Coordinator and Lecturer Mr. Manikandan, IBSU Marketing Rep, and a tutor. The 55 care packages were distributed to the patients, meanwhile the students also had the opportunity to interact with the patients, share words of encouragement, and provide emotional support.

The activity created a positive and uplifting atmosphere, bringing smiles and happiness to the patients. For the participating students, it provided a meaningful opportunity to engage in community service, develop empathy, and understand the importance of giving back to society. The students expressed great satisfaction in contributing to the care and wellbeing of the patients.
The success of the SAFSA Donation Drive 2026 was made possible through the collective effort of IBSU Management, Dr. Arumugam Mourougane, Head of School SOAF, Alleviate PNG, Mr. Vinet George Pius, Niugini Fleet Services (NFS), the Marketing Team, the participating students and the Cancer Centre administrators for their contributions and support.
