IBSUniversity and CPA PNG Host MS Excel Training at Tribe Coffee Club, Ela Beach

[Tuesday 19 November 2024, Tribes Coffee Club, Ela Beach] The MS Excel: Beginner to Advanced Skills CPD training program, organized by CPA-PNG in partnership with IBSUniversity, took place on the 18th and 19th of November, 2024, at Tribe Coffee Club, Ela Beach, Port Moresby.

Dr. Rengalwar Vasan, Head of the School of Accounting and Finance, with the support of the School of Information Technology at IBSUniversity, organised this CPA program to help participants strengthen their Microsoft Excel expertise for better data handling, analysis, and reporting.

Conducted by Mr. Jobin Scaria, Academic Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Mr. Deepan Arulanandham, Senior Lecturer at IBSUniversity, the workshop welcomed 23 participants from numerous organizations. With their extensive experience in data analytics, the facilitators delivered a two-day session designed to build participants’ Excel skills, offering hands-on practice with both basic and advanced features.

Organisations from multiple fields joined the training program, making a point about the value of Excel expertise in today’s workforce. The following organizations were represented:

  2. Family Health International
  3. FH1360 (PNG)
  4. Self-Employed
  5. Nationwide Microbank Limited
  6. PNG Power Limited
  7. Office of Censorship
  8. Nambawan Super Limited
  9. Bank of Papua New Guinea
  10. Milne Bay Provincial Administration (Works Supervision Unit)
  11. South Pacific Post Limited

Covering everything from essential Excel features to advanced data-handling techniques, the training provided participants with hands-on experience in creating formulas, using pivot tables, automating tasks with macros, and beyond, establishing the fact that they are capable of applying these skills directly to their jobs.

The training received enthusiastic praise, with participants noting the practical benefits for their work routines. CPA-PNG and IBSUniversity continue to offer opportunities that help professionals excel in their careers.

CPA-PNG and IBSUniversity plan to offer more CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions in the future, giving professionals opportunities to build expertise in key areas of business and finance.
