IBSUniversity and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) marked a significant milestone by officially signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Digital Transformation Summit-DTS 2026 held at the Stanley Hotel, Port Moresby today.

The partnership establishes a collaborative framework between DICT and IBSUniversity to support Papua New Guinea’s digital transformation agenda through education, research, innovation, digital skills development, capacity building, and the implementation of secure and inclusive Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

The MoU also aligns with the Government’s vision of strengthening the SevisPNG Ecosystem and advancing the Digital Public Infrastructure Centre of Excellence, creating new opportunities for collaboration between government, academia, industry, and the wider community.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Glory Sujitha Antony, Acting Vice Chancellor, described the signing as a landmark achievement for the University. “This Memorandum of Understanding represents more than a formal agreement-it reflects our shared vision of building a digitally empowered Papua New Guinea through education, innovation, and meaningful collaboration. IBSUniversity is proud to partner with the Department of ICT in developing future-ready graduates, advancing research, and supporting national digital initiatives that will create lasting value for our communities and our nation.”

The DICT Secretary Mr. Steven Matainaho acknowledged the Department of ICT leadership in driving the country’s digital transformation and reaffirmed the IBSUniversity’s commitment to contributing its academic expertise, research capabilities, and technological innovation to support national development.

As implementation of the partnership begins, both institutions look forward to launching collaborative initiatives in digital innovation, capacity building, research, student engagement, and emerging technologies that will contribute to a more connected, inclusive, and digitally resilient Papua New Guinea.
