First Central Province Secondary School Signed Scholarship MoU with IBSUniversity

[Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – 10th June 2026] – Laloki Secondary is a secondary school in Central province, located 15 miles outside Port Moresby has enter a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IBSUniversity for scholarships opportunities for high-achieving Grade 12 students.  

This initiative forms part of IBSUniversity’s broader strategy through the Nadesalingam Foundation for Education (NFFE) to strengthen access to higher education through formal partnerships with secondary schools in National Capital District and across Papua New Guinea

IBSUniversity will offer merit-based scholarships covering up to 100% of tuition fees, valued at up to K70,400 over four years, subject to terms and conditions of the MoU to top-performing students through the NFFE scholarship requirements.

Mr. Sagara Wijeratne, Director of Institutional Development at IBSUniversity, said, “IBSUniversity believes in strong collaboration and connection between secondary and tertiary education and this MoU creates the platform to leverage this connection.”

He added:
“ This MoU creates educational pathways for students to easily transit from secondary education to higher education which students will have access to IBSUniversity scholarship programme and pathway programme from the IBS college of TVET. Teachers will be benefited from this MoU, in terms of career development of Malolo International will receive opportunities in their career development. In addition to that, we will include Laloki Secondary in for any programmes that we conduct involving secondary school students.”


Dr. Sujitha Glory Antony, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Acting Vice Chancellor of IBSUniversity commended on the importance of the MoU, she said: “We gathered here today for a meaningful collaboration with this MoU, this MoU is the starting point where we as a university and the secondary schools should meet and for more collaborations to flourish this collaboration. IBSUniversity and the Nadesalingam Foundation for Education is here to support communities and schools.”

The Principal for Laloki Secondary School, Mrs. Carol Tsinabi acknowledged the MoU saying: “For Laloki Secondary School, this is something new and interesting and we are very happy, our parents will be very happy wit this programme and I believe it will go a long way.”

The Deputy Principal Academic of Laloki Secondary, Ms. Dorothy Gagari welcoming this partnership, added: “Thankyou for this platform, our major strength is business, because the top 5% of the students around the country are selected to the National School of Excellence to take up STEM, so we decided to focus on business, from grade 9 to grade 12 and when this MoU reaches us, we knew this is the platform, thankyou IBSUniversity to linking us to your institution and for teachers and students the opportunity to further their education.”


Laloki Secondary School is the fourth school to signed the MoU with IBSUniversity and the first government run institution in Central province to enter this partnership. With additional MoU signings expected in the coming month with secondary schools in Kainantu, Eastern Highlands Province and Lae, Morobe Province. Looking ahead, IBSUniversity is extending this scholarship programme to secondary schools in other provinces across the country, further widening access to quality tertiary education.
