IBSUniversity School of Education in Digital and Blended Learning Launches BLEND
[IBSUniversity, Port Moresby – 18th March 2026] IBSUniversity proudly celebrates a significant milestone in advancing innovative education with the official launch of BLEND (Blended Learning Educators for Next-Gen Development) and the oath-taking ceremony of its inaugural student leaders.
This occasion coincides with the introduction of IBSUniversity’s Bachelor of Education (Major in Digital and Blended Learning) under the School of Education (SoE).

BLEND is established as a student academic association dedicated to promoting digital, blended, and innovative teaching practices among students enrolled in the programme. It serves as a professional learning community aligned with the Bachelor of Education vision of digital-first education and its commitment to developing future-ready educators in Papua New Guinea.

The formal oath taking ceremony of the first cohort of BLEND officers was witnessed by the Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Sujitha Antony, the Head of School of Education Dr. Lemuel Nalugon, Head of Student Affairs Dr. Muthu Prabha V, faculty, and the students.

Welcome remarks were made by Dr. Lemuel Nalugon, Head of the School of Education, followed by an inspiring address by Dr. Sujitha Antony, Acting Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), she emphasized on the critical role of innovation, leadership, and adaptability in shaping the future of education.
The event also featured an engaging academic session led by Dr. Muthu Prabha Venkitachalam, Guidance Counsellor and Head of Student Affairs, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on Emotional Quotient (EQ).

Her session underscored the importance of emotional intelligence in education, explaining how educators must not only be digitally skilled but also emotionally aware to effectively support and inspire next-generation learners.
Closing remarks were delivered by Joel Urulu, BLEND President Elect, who expressed gratitude and a strong commitment to leading the association in innovation, and excellence.

With the establishment of BLEND and the launch of this pioneering programme, IBSUniversity continues to position itself at the forefront of educational innovation in Papua New Guinea.
These pioneering students are laying the foundation for transformative teaching and learning practices across the country and beyond.
The journey has begun and the future of education is in their hands.
