IBSUniversity students under the Student Entrepreneurship Program (STEP) were privileged to have the opportunity to attend an important session on strategic planning by Mr. Jotam Sinopane, the Managing Director of Vantage Capital Ltd. The session was held on March 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the university’s Socrates Hall.

Strategic planning is a key element of any successful and sustainable business venture. During the session, Mr. Sinopane explained how to develop a structured approach to setting goals, analyzing market opportunities, and creating effective growth strategies.

A key aspect of the session was the introduction to SWOT analysis, an invaluable tool for entrepreneurs. Mr. Sinopane outlined how evaluating a business’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats can provide valuable inputs, helping entrepreneurs understand the concepts of the business environment. This framework enables entrepreneurs to assess their position in the market and make informed decisions about their business strategies.

Ms. Palakurthi Harika, STEP Coordinator and lecturer in the School of Business and Management, also offered professional advice on entrepreneurship. She told students that in today’s competitive environment, having a business idea is not enough. “Entrepreneurs need to establish a clear vision, define specific objectives, and develop a strategic approach to overcome challenges and maintain a sustainable business.”

With IBSUniversity’s mission to engage students in responsive and value-driven programs, our academic community continues to provide students with practical tools and a deeper understanding of how to create strategic business plans that match their entrepreneurial goals under the STEP initiative.
