[IBSUniversity – 12^th August 2025] – Education is more than knowledge—it is preparation for leadership, resilience, and the key that opens the door to the world of opportunities. This vision came to life recently at the School of Business and Management when our students were treated to an interesting guest lecture by Dr. Chakiriya Bowman, Founder and Director of Wokredi Solutions PNG.

She delivered the guest lecture on “Life After Graduation – Opportunities for Aspiring Business Leaders,” in which she encouraged students to think ahead before graduation and imagine the exciting possibilities awaiting them in their careers and personal journeys.

Dr. Bowman opened her talk by addressing a reality many graduates face—the uncertainty of what comes next. She shared practical strategies on career development, leadership growth, and adaptability.

“Your degree is just the beginning,” she said, urging students to see themselves not only as professionals but as leaders with the potential to influence industries and communities.

Dr. Bowman’s lecture took a deep dive into international exposure opportunities. Drawing on her expertise, she unpacked the Australian visa system and explained how students could leverage specific visas, such as the work and vacation visa, to gain invaluable global experience.

This pathway allows young graduates to work, travel, and build international networks simultaneously. By outlining the application process in detail—from documentation to decision-making—Dr. Bowman gave students a clear, step-by-step understanding of how to position themselves for overseas opportunities.

Students were encouraged to ask questions, share their aspirations, and engage in meaningful dialogue with Dr. Bowman.

One student commented that the session gave her the courage to explore opportunities outside Papua New Guinea:

“I always thought working abroad was out of reach, but now I see it’s possible with the right preparation.”
