IBSUniversity and PNGWBRC Forge Partnership to Empower Women Entrepreneurs in PNG

At the IBSUniversity’s recent Business Pitch Competition, an event designed to spotlight innovation and entrepreneurial drive for tertiary students, a significant agreement was signed with the aim to reshape the future of women-led business in Papua New Guinea.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IBSUniversity (IBSU) and the PNG Women’s Business Resource Centre (PNWBRC) is more than a formal handshake. It is a strategic alliance that promises to provide a platform for women’s economic potential, strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and creating a lasting pathway for inclusive growth.

The signing of this MoU during the Business Pitch Competition intended to bridge vision and action, between young women entrepreneurs and the institutions ready to champion them.

For too long, women entrepreneurs in PNG have faced structural and cultural barriers that limit access to resources, mentorship, and growth opportunities. The PNWBRC, a leading advocate for women’s participation in the economy, has been at the forefront of breaking those barriers. IBSUniversity, through its long-standing educational foundation and forward-looking initiatives, brings academic rigor, mentoring, and business incubation to the table.

Together, the two institutions are partnering to:

  • Promote women’s economic empowerment by establishing continuous dialogue and collaboration.
  • Strengthen Papua New Guinea’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through training, joint initiatives, and shared expertise.
  • Encourage and mentor women entrepreneurs, giving them the confidence, skills, and network to compete in local and international markets.

This partnership ensures that future pitch competitions, workshops, and programs will not only showcase bright ideas but also provide concrete support to turn them into thriving enterprises.

Papua New Guinea’s economy is poised for transformation, but inclusive growth will only be possible if women are fully engaged in the entrepreneurial space. According to recent studies, when women thrive in business, communities benefit through job creation, improved livelihoods, and reinvestment in families and education.

By joining hands, IBSUniversity and PNWBRC are creating a future of entrepreneurship in Papua New Guinea where it is inclusive and dynamic.

When the first wave of initiatives under this partnership rolls out, students, women entrepreneurs, and communities across PNG can expect to see mentorship programs, networking events, and targeted training sessions designed for innovation and growth.

With IBSUniversity and PNWBRC working side by side, Papua New Guinea’s women entrepreneurs are not just being invited to the table—they are being empowered to build their own.
