It’s All About the Values at IBSUniversity

Values are the key principles and beliefs that guide the actions, decisions, and behaviors of an organization. They help form the foundation of the culture and reflect what is important to the organization. Values define how people interact, work, and approach challenges. In simple terms, values are like a set of rules that show what a group stands for and how they intend to achieve their goals.
For example, when people say they “value” teamwork, it means they believe in working together to get things done. When an organization values creativity, it shows that it encourages fresh thinking and new ideas. Values help create a common understanding of what is expected of everyone involved, making sure they’re all on the same page.
IBSUniversity Values: Guiding Our Journey
At IBSUniversity, we believe that values are more than just words—they are the foundation of who we are and how we function.
So let’s now consider the key values that drive our institution:
1. Integrity
Integrity means being honest and trustworthy in all that we do. At IBSUniversity, we prioritize honesty, and building trust with our students, staff, and partners. From completing assignments to meeting deadlines and staying transparent, we believe honesty is always the best way forward.
2. Respect
Respect means treating others with the same kindness and fairness we would want in return. At IBSUniversity, respect is shown through how we interact with each other—students, staff, and the wider community. We value diversity, understanding that every person brings unique perspectives that help strengthen our learning environment.
3. Innovation
For us, Innovation is about seeking new methods to supplement ourselves and the community around us. In other words, IBSUniversity, in the grand scheme of things, encourages creative thinking, utilizing modern technology and fresh approaches to solving problems.
4. Service
Service goes beyond merely meeting expectations. In essence, it’s about going the extra mile to make a positive effect. At IBSUniversity, we take pride in offering valuable support to our students and the community. Through academic services, career guidance, and extracurricular activities, we seek to add value and create meaningful experiences.
5. Collaboration
Collaboration means working together to achieve common goals. At IBSUniversity, we believe in building strong partnerships within the institution, as well as with external stakeholders. Through teamwork, we promote success for all, creating a supportive and connected learning environment.
6. Accountability
Accountability means taking responsibility for our actions and decisions. At IBSUniversity, we hold ourselves accountable for the outcomes we produce. This may come in the form of academic success, administrative duties, or meeting our responsibilities to our students. We believe that accountability reinforces trust and facilitates progress.
7. Responsive
Responsiveness means adapting to meet the needs of the industry and our students in a thoughtful and timely manner. At IBSUniversity, we listen to feedback, identify challenges, and make attempts to address them efficiently. This is how we validate that our education remains relevant and effective.
8. Excellence
Excellence means always trying to do our best in everything we take on. At IBSUniversity, we prioritize high-quality teaching, research, and services. We work to improve continuously, giving our students the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to progress further in their careers.

Mr. Wasa Malu of IBS College of TVET is the inspiration behind this blog. In conversations with friends and colleagues, on occasions, constantly preaches about the IBS values. He’d often say, “It’s all about the values. If you don’t follow these values yourself, you’re wasting your time here.”
