IBSUniversity Founder Rallies Staff Toward a Vision: Building a World-Class Institution

[Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, October 28, 2024] – IBS Founder, Sir Mick Nades, in a recent meeting with every department head, senior academic, and non-academic leader of both IBSUniversity and IBS College of TVET, threw down a challenge to transform IBS into a world-class institution. This meeting was all about coming together to join in on the mission of building an institution that could make a difference well beyond Papua New Guinea.

With the theme “Building a World-Class Institution” guiding the discussion, Sir Mick opened by sharing videos of two of the world’s most influential leaders, Steve Jobs, and John F. Welch Jr. – two people who built lasting legacies through creative thinking and tireless effort. “These individuals reshaped the world through dedication and vision,” he said. “If IBS wants to be on the global stage, let’s learn from their example.”

In essence, Sir Mick’s message was quite compelling in that he said ambition, alone, just wouldn’t cut it. He pointed out that true dedication is needed—dedication that goes beyond personal interests. “IBS needs individuals who genuinely believe in this cause,” he pressed. “We need people ready to seize every opportunity to make a meaningful difference, even if it requires personal sacrifices for a greater purpose.”

Sir Mick also encouraged everyone to take a moment for introspection. This goes beyond professional dedication; it’s about aligning personal values with our mission. “Ask yourself: Why are you here? What do you want to achieve? What kind of legacy do you want to leave?” he said, making clear the necessity of reflecting on personal values and aspirations.

The meeting concluded with a final note from Sir Mick stating that the journey toward building a world-class institution should begin with each person’s individual “soul-searching” effort. His message was clear and personal—only by taking on a common vision and enthusiastically pushing for the highest standards can IBS make its mark on a global scale that may go on to stand the test of time.
