IBSUniversity’s School of Information Technology Hosts National Intercollegiate IT Fest 2024
Port Moresby, 25 July 2024 – Yesterday, IBSUniversity’s School of Information Technology (SOIT) proudly hosted the much-anticipated National Intercollegiate IT Fest, popularly known as Tech Fest.
Since its inception in 2016, this annual event has grown in popularity and impact, drawing a significant crowd this year. Students from various invited schools, including Port Moresby National High, Port Moresby International School, Koiari Park Secondary, Marianville Secondary, and La Salle Secondary, eagerly participated in the festivities.
The visiting students were engrossed in various gaming platforms and or interactive activities, well organized by the event planners.
The primary objective of Tech Fest was twofold: to provide attendees with hands-on experience with the latest advancements in information technology and to offer a glimpse into the kind of ICT facilities they would utilize if they chose to further their studies at IBSUniversity.
Event Highlights and Achievements
The day was filled with both technical (ICT knowledge) and non-technical (general knowledge) fun activities, designed to cater to a broad range of interests and skill levels.
These activities were designed to stimulate the students’ intellect while facilitating healthy competitions among the participants.
“This is the platform where students can showcase their talents, skills, and exchange knowledge. Technology-wise, the world is growing rapidly, and here at IBSU, we strive to be at the forefront of uncovering the latest trends in ICT while showcasing our top-notch facilities,” expressed Deepan Arulanandham, senior event coordinator and Senior Lecturer at SOIT, when asked about the success of the event.
The primary aim of the event was to highlight IBSU’s exceptional IT facilities to the attending secondary school students, ensuring they are well informed about the resources available to them, should they decide to pursue their higher education at IBSUniversity.
The positive feedback and enthusiastic participation underscore the event’s success in achieving this goal.
As IBSUniversity continues to lead in the field of ICT education, events like Tech Fest play a crucial role in inspiring the next generation of tech innovators.
The university looks forward to hosting future events that will further bridge the gap between secondary education and higher learning, especially when it comes to information technology.
