The School of Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with the School of Information Technology, successfully delivered a CPA PNG Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program titled “Excel Combo Training: Basics to Advanced Level.” This comprehensive three-day workshop, held in Alotau, Milne Bay province, from 19–21 November 2025, provided professional participants basics to advance  techniques in analytical, reporting, and data-handling competencies using Microsoft Excel.

The training was facilitated by two distinguished resource persons from IBSUniversity:

• Dr. Rengalwar Srinivasan, Senior Lecturer, School of Accounting and Finance and
• Mr. Deepan Arulanandham, Senior Lecturer, School of Information Technology & Head of Digital Learning

Their combined expertise in financial analysis, data management, business intelligence tools, and digital learning technologies created a highly engaging and practical workshop for the participants. The training covered a broad spectrum of Excel capabilities, including foundational functions, data cleaning techniques, advanced formulas, PivotTables, Pivot Charts, and essential analytical tools widely applied in accounting, auditing, administration, and public-sector performance reporting.

A total of 27 participants from the Milne Bay Department of Education and the Department of Administration successfully completed the three-day workshop. Throughout the program, participants engaged in hands-on exercises, real-world case scenarios, and guided practice sessions designed to enhance workplace efficiency, strengthen analytical decision-making, and support evidence-based reporting.

This initiative demonstrates IBSUniversity’s strong commitment to national capacity building by delivering relevant, practical, and high-quality professional training programs across Papua New Guinea. Through strategic collaborations with CPA PNG, the University continues to empower public-sector professionals, advance digital literacy, and contribute to raising professional standards within the accounting, administrative, and financial management sectors.
