Port Moresby, July 11, 2024 – IBSUniversity’s People & Culture Department successfully conducted an impactful training session titled “Creating an Exceptional Employee Experience” at the IBSUniversity boardroom. The session was facilitated by Mr. Gordon Sailas, Head of the People & Culture Department, along with the assistance of his dedicated team.
The training, attended by twenty staff members from various departments, emphasized the critical importance of creating a positive and supportive workplace environment. Representatives from the Student Services Division (SSD), Finance, Student Engagement & Affairs, ICT, Quality Assurance (QA), Vice Chancellor’s Office, and Corporate Affairs participated in this comprehensive session, reflecting a university-wide commitment to improving the employee experience.
Mr. Sailas articulated the training’s objective: “This training aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the employee lifecycle and the strategies required to create an exceptional employee experience at each critical stage. By the end of the training, participants will be able to thoroughly understand the importance of how to attract, hire, onboard, engage, perform, develop, and manage the departure of employees, ensuring a unified and positive experience that drives employee satisfaction, retention, and organizational success.”
The session featured a blend of interactive group activities and presentations designed to encourage teamwork and active participation, providing practical insights into building a supportive work environment and emphasizing the importance of recognizing and valuing employee contributions. This approach created a supportive atmosphere and boosted engagement through meaningful work and recognition. The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to all participants, acknowledging their dedication to personal and professional development.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of Sir Mick Nades’s visionary dedication in spearheading this initiative. Having developed the source material years ago, he persevered in his commitment to implement this objective, which has finally come to fruition with the invaluable support of the People & Culture Department. His steadfast vision and leadership over the years were evident throughout the training’s development and execution.
Gratitude was also extended to the IBSUniversity management team for their continuous support, which played a crucial role in the successful execution of the training session. Their involvement outlines the importance of leadership in ensuring a positive workplace culture and driving organizational success.
Looking ahead, the People & Culture team will conduct similar training sessions next week to guarantee that all staff members have the opportunity to benefit from this valuable initiative. This effort aims to promote a consistent and exceptional employee experience across all campuses.
In today’s competitive business environment, investing in the employee experience is not just about improving job satisfaction. Rather, it’s about creating an environment where employees can excel and bring their best selves to work every day. IBS University is committed to this principle, which was evident in the successful execution of yesterday’s training session and has inspired plans for future sessions.
