IBSUniversity & IBS College of TVET Partners with Theodist to Bridge the Gap Between Learning and Industry

Port Moresby | July 8, 2025

IBSUniversity (IBSU) and IBS College of TVET (IBSC) have entered into a strategic partnership with Theodist Limited—Papua New Guinea’s leading education and office supplier through the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 8, 2025.

The signing ceremony, held at Theodist’s Business Superstore headquarters in Port Moresby, this new collaboration builds on IBS’s mission to deliver practical and experience-based learning that prepares students to apply their skills effectively in industry contexts.

This partnership opens the door for IBSU and IBSC students to participate in on-the-job training opportunities at Theodist, exposing them to dynamic workplace environments where they can apply their academic knowledge and gain essential professional experience.

As part of the agreement, IBSUniversity will also extend its expertise to Theodist through customized training workshops, delivered by IBSU’s academic experts in business, management, and technology—ensuring a two-way exchange of knowledge and continuous growth.

“IBSUniversity is committed to the holistic development of its students by offering practical, experience-based learning opportunities,” said Professor Ramachandran Arunachalam, Vice Chancellor of IBSU.

“This MOU with Theodist strengthens our strategic vision of preparing students who are not only academically qualified, but also job-ready and equipped with industry-relevant skills.”

The partnership further includes initiatives such as guest lectures, student mentoring, guided industry visits, and joint curriculum development—all aimed at keeping IBSU’s IBSC’s academic content aligned with evolving industry needs.

Mr. Sagara Wijeratne, Head of IBSC, reaffirmed the importance of the collaboration:

“This MOU formalises a long-standing relationship with Theodist and maintains our shared goal to delivering high-quality, skills-based education.”

Theodist CEO Mr. Kumar Baliah praised the partnership, stating:

“Theodist has always believed in the power of education to transform lives. By partnering with IBSUniversity and IBS College of TVET we are proud to contribute directly to shaping the next generation of PNG’s workforce.”

The MOU will remain in effect for three years, with the potential for renewal, and is another bold step in IBSUniversity’s and IBS College of TVET’s broader mission to deliver world-class education, industry engagement, and student success.

At IBSUniversity and IBS College of TVET, we don’t just educate—we empower.
Through partnerships like this, we continue to shape Papua New Guinea’s future leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
