IBSUniversity Hosts Inaugural Career Expo, Connecting Students with Industry Leaders

[Port Moresby, 5 September 2025] – IBSUniversity successfully hosted its inaugural Career Expo at the university’s library, bringing together seventeen leading organizations to provide invaluable career insights and guidance to students.

The event catered to second-year, third-year, and final-year students from the School of Accounting and Finance, School of Business and Management, School of Information Technology, and School of Economics and Development Studies.

The Expo also featured a panel discussion on “The Future of Work – Skills for 2030 and Building Sustainable Careers in Accounting, Business, Economics, and IT.” With distinguished panelists included Mr. Wesley Roy, CEO of Brave International, and Mr. Chethan Chopra, Former CEO of Kina Bank  who shared their expertise and perspectives on preparing graduates for evolving workforce demands.

“A career expo is like a doorway to the future—it lets students step out of the classroom and into the world of work. It’s a space where ideas meet opportunities, where students discover pathways, they never imagined, connect with professionals who can inspire them, and gain the confidence to shape their own careers. It’s not just an event, but a launchpad for dreams to take flight,” says Dr Muthu Prabha V (Head of student affairs).

The following organizations participated in the expo, offering career advice, internship opportunities, and industry insights:
SP Brewery, National Gaming Control Board, Nasfund, Internal Revenue Commission, National Banking Corporation, PNG Tribal Foundation, TE PNG, United Finance, Telikom PNG Limited, Tisa Bank, Brunel International, PNG Olympic Committee, Theodist, Barlow Industries, Trukai Industries, and UNDP.

We also extend our special thanks to Nestle and Coca Cola for their support to set up free taste booths outside for Nestle 3in1 Instant Coffee and Munch and Coca Cola Fanta Raspberry.

In addition, IBSUniversity was honored to host 20 students from Mapex Training Institute and 10 students from International Training Institute, who joined to gain exposure to industry opportunities alongside IBSUniversity and IBS college of TVET students.

The Career Expo marks another significant milestone for IBSUniversity in its commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and professional pathways. It ensures that our students are better prepared for future career success, and we are pleased to announce that this will now be an annual event.
