IBSUniversity and PNGOC Draw Five Winners of the 2024 Trukai Fun Run Scholarships

[Port Moresby, Olympics Committee HeadQuarter 4-12-2024] – In a small but important event to show support for education, IBSUniversity (IBSU) and the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) have announced the winners of the 2024 IBS Scholarships. These scholarships were given to five lucky participants of the Trukai Fun Run held in July this year.

The five winners of the Trukai Fun Run have been chosen to receive scholarships to study at IBSU’s College of TVET for six months. The winners are Rickilah Wura, Everlyn Gumabugo, Veivei John, and Essie Vartom from Port Moresby, and Delailah Dilyndiwi from Lae. The scholarships will help them study certificate-level courses in areas like accounting, business, information technology, and human resource management.

PNGOC’s Secretary General, Desmond Kaviagu, thanked IBSU for its ongoing support. He said, “IBSU has been an amazing partner in raising funds for Team PNG, especially through the Trukai Fun Run. These scholarships show how much they care about education and helping Papua New Guinea grow through sports.”

Professor Ramachandran Arunachalam, Vice Chancellor of IBSU, also praised the partnership. In an official statement, he said, “IBSU is dedicated to helping Papua New Guineans through education and sports. We are proud to offer these five scholarships to Trukai Fun Run participants, as well as the 20 scholarships we give every year to Team PNG athletes.”

Along with the scholarships, five lucky participants won door prizes thanks to Theodist Business Superstore, a long-time partner of PNGOC, and Trukai Industries Limited, the main sponsor of the Trukai Fun Run.

The Trukai Fun Run is one of the biggest events in Papua New Guinea, helping to bring people together and encourage both education and sports. Through this partnership, PNGOC and IBSU are creating more chances for young people in PNG to improve their education and get ready to be the leaders of tomorrow.

This effort shows how both organizations are working together to help our communities grow and support the future of our country through education and sports.
