IBSU Hosts Indian High Commission for Cultural Movie Screening

IBSU Library, Mt. Eriama Campus, Sogeri Road, Port Moresby – March 31, 2025

IBSUniversity (IBSU) proudly welcomed the Indian High Commission for an engaging cultural movie screening at the Peter Drucker Library on March 31, 2025. Students and staff enjoyed the acclaimed Indian film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (You Only Live Once)—a story about friendship, self-discovery, and facing life’s uncertainties.

The screening was attended by key officials from the Indian High Commission, including Mr. Ravindra Nath, Acting High Commissioner; Mr. Rajeah Bhati, Consular Officer; and Mr. Akshay Kumar, Political, Economic, & Commercial Officer. Their attendance, in itself, signified the value of cultural exchange and the growing connection between IBSUniversity and the Indian High Commission.

Celebrating Cultural Diversity and Life Lessons

The movie, known for its emotional depth and adventurous storyline, offered an inspiring message to students moving into the next phase of their lives. With themes of courage, friendship, and personal growth, the screening went beyond entertainment. It encouraged students to consider their individual journey in life. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara proved to be an inspiration for everyone in attendance. After all, with the current state of this day and age governed by the rapid advancement of technology, everyone needs to value relationships and choose real experiences over the distractions of technology.

The event began with IBSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Ramachandran Arunachalam, who welcomed everyone to an afternoon celebrating culture and knowledge. Mr. Ravindra Nath then offered some considerate observations, followed by Mr. Akshay Kumar, who provided a brief update on the ongoing Indian Cultural Festival. Before the movie began, Mr. Rajeah Bhati gave a short introduction, pointing out the film’s main idea.

A Fun and Involved Experience

Attendees took a break halfway through the screening, enjoying lunch together and having a chance to chat and connect. The event also displayed banners from the Indian High Commission, which added to the cultural atmosphere.

The Indian High Commission expressed their best wishes to IBSU students, encouraging them to pursue their academic and professional aspirations with passion. “We wish all students the very best in their future endeavors and hope they continue to engage in cultural learning experiences such as this,” said Mr. Akshay Kumar.

Looking Ahead

IBSU takes pride in supporting cultural engagement and global learning opportunities. The university invites students and staff to participate in upcoming events that celebrate diversity and knowledge sharing. As part of this ongoing effort, IBSUniversity will also host International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025.
