Funds Raised for Cheshire Disability Services During IBS Founder’s 80th Birthday Celebration

On the occasion of the 80th Birthday Celebration of the Founder of IBSUniversity and the IBS Group, Sir Mick Nades, funds were raised in support of Cheshire Disability Services PNG.

An incredible total of K24,201.00 was collected on the evening of February 14th, 2026 at the Stanley’s Hotel and Suites in Port Moresby during the birthday celebration. In addition, the following distinguished dignitaries have pledged their generous support:

  • Prime Minister Hon. James Marape
  • Hon. Peter Ipatas, CSM – Governor of Enga Province and
  • Hon. Kinoka Hotune Feo – Minister for DHERST & Sports

The pledged contributions amount to K30,000.00, bringing the total funds raised to K54,201.00.

As a symbol of collective commitment from Sir Mick Nades, IBSUniversity, the IBS Group, partners, staff and students to advance and support organisations that serve vulnerable communities, the funds were formally presented to Cheshire Disability Services PNG CEO Gerald Bengesser on Friday, 20th February 2026 at 10.00am in the IBSUniversity Corporate Board Room at the 11 Mile, Port Moresby.

Sir Mick Nades Said, “today is a happy day for me to donate this amount of money and I would want to thank everyone who attended my birthday to raise these funds.”

The initiative reflected Sir Mick Nades lifelong commitment not only to education and nation-building, but also to compassion and community service. Rather than receiving gifts, the birthday celebration became an opportunity to give back, turning a personal milestone into a shared act of kindness.

Sir Mick Nades Said, “today is a happy day for me to donate this amount of money and I would want to thank everyone who attended my birthday to raise these funds.”

Cheshire Disability Services PNG CEO Mr. Bengesser said that they had a bit of shortfall last year and this huge amount of money will help them. He also expressed that they kept their official clinic closed so with this money, they may reopen the clinic as soon as possible.

The generosity shown by family, friends, colleagues, and partners during Sir Mick Nades 80th birthday is a powerful encouragement that leadership extends beyond institutions, it touches lives in meaningful ways. This contribution showcased what can be achieved when a community comes together for a greater purpose.
