7th October 2025
City Pharmacy Limited (CPL) Career Roadshow was successfully conducted at IBSUniversity (IBSU), providing an excellent platform for students to engage directly with one of Papua New Guinea’s leading retail and distribution companies.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and opening remarks by Dr. Durga Prasad, Head of the School of Business and Management (SOBM), who emphasized the importance of strengthening academic-industry partnerships for student success. This was followed by a motivational address from Acting Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Sujitha Antony, who highlighted the CPL pathways and contributions to PNG over the years, and also acknowledged Dr. Durga for bringing this valuable opportunity to the students.

The Road Show was delivered by CPL’s Training Team, who delivered an engaging session, introducing CPL’s work culture, career pathways, and upcoming opportunities. They announced the CPL Graduate Development Program (2026), along with casual employment and internship openings. CPL’s GDP for 2026 has not been made public yet; however, the students of IBSU were privileged to be the first to know about CPL’s GDP and its requirements.

The team also highlighted the existing MoU between IBSU and CPL that was signed in June this year, which gives high priority to IBSU students for industry engagements. The MoU opens doors for internships, graduate placements, industry-informed curriculum development, and joint training initiatives, which will give students access to one of PNG’s most diverse and dynamic business groups.
According to the CPL team, through the MoU, there are three opportunities available for them. First is the 2026 GDP Program, which is available to final year students only, while the rest of the students can apply for internship placement and casual employment during this holiday period.

CPL further recognized the outstanding performance of Ms. Shanelle Kevin, an IBSU alumna, as a success story and true testimony to IBSU’s strong commitment toward student growth and professional development.
More than 160 students from IBSUniversity and Southern Cross University’s School of Business & Management, Accounting & Finance, Economics & Development, and Information Technology, along with their respective Heads of School, participated enthusiastically, engaging in discussions, asking questions, and sharing positive feedback about the session, demonstrating a strong cross-school collaboration and shared commitment to student engagement.

The program concluded on a high note, marking another successful step in strengthening industry-academia collaboration and enhancing career readiness among IBSU students.
