BSP Roadshow & Hackathon at IBSUniversity

Port Moresby, IBSUniversity – July 18, 2025

In an era where practical experience is as important as academic achievement, IBSUniversity continues to lead from the front in preparing its students to be job ready. This drive brings our university to partner with Papua new Guinea’s leading bank, Bank South Pacific to bridge the gap between education and employment and we were pleased to see this commitment on full display, during the BSP Roadshow & Hackathon session, held on July 16th and 17th in our campus.

The Roadshow session began on July 16th at the university McPherson Open Arena, with an insightful session on BSP services, exciting student opportunities and impactful community services.

The Hackathorn session which took place on July 17th is part of the BSP Graduate Development Program 2026, where 43 students from across our four schools gathered at the university Socrates Hall for a deep dive into this GDP to learn about recruitment stages, application requirements and what BSP expects from future graduates.

To commence the Hackathon, students were grouped and immersed in a live case study challenge, guided by seasoned BSP trainers who facilitated analysis, discussion, and problem-solving.

The best-performing group was recognized for their creativity and teamwork, and was awarded a trophy with each group member receiving medals. To top it off, all 43 students who participated received certificates for their effort and engagement.

This hackathon is more than just a one-off event—it’s part of a growing movement at IBSUniversity to bridge the gap between education and employment. We are pleased to have BSP onboard to support our student’s journey.

The university’s collaboration with Bank South Pacific (BSP) exemplifies how meaningful partnerships with industry leaders can support student learning outcomes. Through such initiatives, students gain exposure to the expectations, pace, and pressures of the professional environment—before they even step into it.

IBSUniversity is focused on developing holistic and agile graduates who can adapt and thrive in changing job markets and we acknowledged Bank South Pacific for visiting our campus and invest in our students.
