Advancements and Obstacles in PNG Modelling: Opportunities for Innovation

[Port Moresby, April 15th – 2025] -As Papua New Guinea’s fashion industry continues to grow, the modelling sector is gaining momentum both locally and abroad. Yet, with this growth comes unique challenges for aspiring models—challenges that call for creativity, resilience, and innovation.

To explore these issues and inspire the next generation of talent, IBSUniversity (IBSU) proudly hosted a guest lecture titled “Advancements and Obstacles in PNG Modelling: Opportunities for Innovation.”

The session featured three distinguished speakers from PNG Fashion WeekBrigette Kassman, Incennea Minz, and Alova Manu—who shared their expertise on the evolving landscape of modelling in PNG. They offered insights into how the industry has progressed, the barriers models often face, and how innovative thinking can create new opportunities for success.

Strategically scheduled ahead of the highly anticipated Level Up 2025 event at IBSU, this lecture was designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue modelling professionally. From understanding industry trends to building networks and tackling challenges, students were encouraged to approach the profession with both ambition and resilience.

The message shared in the guest lecture was: modelling is not just about appearance, but about passion, creativity, and professionalism. Like any career, it comes with challenges, but success belongs to those who commit to growth and innovation.

By embracing their interests and pursuing them with confidence and pride, students can build meaningful careers in the modelling industry, contributing to PNG’s growing reputation on the global fashion stage.
