IBSUniversity’s People & Culture Department Conducts 4th ‘Creating Exceptional Employee Experience’ Workshop

Port Moresby, July 30, 2024 – Yesterday, IBSUniversity’s People & Culture Department successfully conducted the fourth installment of their ongoing training series, themed “Creating Exceptional Employee Experience.” Held at the IBSU boardroom, the workshop was led by Mr. Gordon Sailas, HRD Manager, and his dedicated team.

The training focused on the essential concepts and stages involved in crafting a positive and impactful journey for employees within an organization. It emphasized that creating exceptional employee experiences is a collective effort, not solely the responsibility of the People & Culture team or departmental heads. Rather, a shared responsibility across all levels of the organization.

Participants engaged in discussions and activities that explored the seven key stages of an employee’s experience: Attract, Hire, Onboard, Engage, Perform, Develop, and Depart.

Each stage was thoroughly examined, with a focus on:

  1. Attract: Ensuring prospective employees understand the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  2. Hire: Assessing employee strengths using tools like Clifton Strengths or Myers-Briggs.
  3. Onboard: Facilitating connections with colleagues and providing essential support.
  4. Engage: Helping employees see how their work contributes to the company’s goals.
  5. Perform: Offering ongoing coaching and constructive feedback.
  6. Develop: Enhancing employees’ mental and physical capacities through team-building programs.
  7. Depart: Ensuring employees leave the organization on a positive note.

Collectively, these stages represent the building blocks of an exceptional employee experience, as outlined by the IBSU People & Culture Team. The training highlighted the importance of an approach to employee well-being that necessitates a culture where every team member feels valued and engaged.

The session was met with enthusiastic participation and positive feedback, reinforcing the department’s commitment to parenting a positive work environment.

The workshop concluded with the fourth batch comprising representatives from the IT, Library, QA, Student Services, and Finance departments receiving certificates of participation.

Moreover, IBSU’s People & Culture Department is looking forward to continuing this series and further supplementing the overall employee experience.
